Ntungamo District RDC, Miriam Kagaiga, appealed to voters to maintain the momentum witnessed during the presidential polls by supporting other party flag bearers in the forthcoming elections.

“Now that we have concluded the presidential and parliamentary elections, I appeal to the people of Ntungamo to turn up in big numbers on January 22 and support the remaining flag bearers,” Kagaiga said.

Leaders also credited President Museveni’s performance for the strong support he received in the district, noting that residents voted willingly and peacefully.

Speaking during the celebrations, Evans Rutahwire Asimwe, senior presidential advisor for Ntungamo, said the district intends to remain a model for peace and development.

“The people of Ntungamo are happy with what the President is doing, and we are determined to protect those gains. We want other regions to look at Ntungamo as an example of where progress starts and where peace begins and lasts,” he said.

Evans added that President Museveni’s renewed focus on fighting corruption would accelerate development across the country.

“Corruption has slowed down development for a long time. The President has been clear that this time corruption must go,” he noted.

RDC Kagaiga reiterated assurances of security before, during, and after the January 22 polls, warning against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process.

“We are going to work as a team. I expect calmness on polling day. Those who try to disrupt elections should stop. Ntungamo will remain peaceful,” Kagaiga emphasized.

Authorities say security agencies are on alert to ensure a peaceful local government election as voters head to the polls later this week.
